Co-Producing Phycocyanin and Bioplastic in Arthrospira platensis Using Carbon-Rich Wastewater

نویسندگان

چکیده

Microalgae can treat waste streams containing elevated levels of organic carbon and nitrogen. This process be economically attractive if high value products are created simultaneously from the relatively low-cost stream. Co-production two microalgal products, phycocyanin polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB), was investigated using non-axenic Arthrospira platensis MUR126 supplemental (acetate, oxalate, glycerol combinations). All supplemented cultures had higher biomass yield (g/L) than photoautotrophic control. produced PHB (3.6–7.8% w/w), except control those fed oxalate. Supplemented showed a to three-fold increase in content over eight-day cultivation. Results indicate co-production is possible A. platensis, mixed-waste carbon. However, supplementation resulted growth extremophile bacteria, particularly glycerol, this negative impact on culture health. Refinement dosing rate required minimise impacts native bacterial contamination.

Supercritical Carbon Dioxide and Microwave-Assisted Extraction of Functional Lipophilic Compounds from Arthrospira platensis

Arthrospira platensis biomass was used in order to obtain functional lipophilic compounds through green extraction technologies such as supercritical carbon dioxide fluid extraction (SFE) and microwave-assisted extraction (MAE). The temperature (T) factor was evaluated for MAE, while for SFE, pressure (P), temperature (T), and co-solvent (ethanol) (CS) were evaluated. The maximum extraction yie...

Optimization of light conditions by affecting the growth and production of C-Phycocyanin in Spirulina platensis microalgae

Spirulina microalgae are a rich source of protein and valuable biological compounds. One of the most important Spirulina microalgae pigments is phycocyanin. Phycocyanin is widely used in industries as a natural blue pigment and it’s also an effective antioxidant. In order to improve phycocyanin production as well as Spirulina growth, by autotrophic cultivation considering that autotrophic culti...
